Alan Brown has exhibited extensively in the New York metropolitan area.

Alan Brown has a M.F.A. from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn; and a B.S. in Fine Art from Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs. His focus is centered on oil painting. Alan is a member of the Somerset Art Association and the Woodbridge Art Group.

Alan Brown's style varies from photo-realistic to expressionistic, always with the figure as his central focus. Alan explains, "My recent work examines humanness in relation to the natural world. The visual interplay is between figure, pattern, and object. The objects and patterns in my paintings serve always to reflect back upon the figure."

Alan Brown moves seamlessly between styles of paintings. Viewers must look closely at his palette, design and construction to see that he always arranges his subject to suit his artistic vision.

Alan is currently accepting portrait commissions.

Alan Brown has received a top award from The American Artists Professional League and an Honorable Mention at the Monmouth Museum. The New York Times, The Asbury Park Press, and The Home News have written articles about his work.
